About Overwatch now
Overwatch is Blizzard's free-to-play team shooter, on PC (Battle.net and Steam), PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Blizzard dropped the “2” from its name in 2026, and many players still call it Overwatch 2.
Ranked has nine ranks, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Master, Grandmaster and Champion, each with divisions 5 to 1, and above them the Top 500 Challenger leaderboard of each region. Emerald, added in 2026, sits between Platinum and Diamond. Tank, Damage, Support and Open Queue each have their own rank, PC and console rank apart, and the season rewards go by the peak rank you reach.
A new account opens Competitive after the first time tutorial and 50 Quick Play wins: Blizzard raised it from 20 with the patch of May 12, 2026. Stadium is a separate ranked mode with seven leagues, Rookie, Novice, Contender, Elite, Pro, All-Star and Legend, and its own rank in each role. The Battle Pass has 80 tiers split into reward tracks you pick, with a paid Premium track; hero levels bring hero rewards and Ascended portrait borders; and ranked wins pay Competitive Points, 3,000 of which buy one Golden Weapon.
